Hairventures: 2013: January – March

January 2013 (3)

At the beginning of 2013, we continued being white blonde. I was living, as Gwen Stefani might say, a platinum blonde life. Pink dye is also nice in that it doesn’t fade or wash out as quickly as, say, blue or red, my favourites, so we continued with this trend, only this time we added some purple to the sides and roots. This was, as per the norm, Suzanne’s idea; I originally was thinking all dark blue with lighter blue tips, but that would be unreasonable and wouldn’t last, so we kept up with the white and pink.

And again, we remained short, only it was more of a scruffy pixie than a fauxhawk. This time around, the hair tattoo was completely grown out, and we didn’t opt for another. Though, looking at pictures now, I’m once more intrigued.

Then a few months rolled by, as they do. I really enjoyed having blonde hair, but the main problem with it is that my hair is very dark brown by nature, so when my roots grew in it hurt to look at my Oreo hair. I’m notoriously bad for keeping up with my colour, so it had to be an end to the white. In any case, I was about to move out and I wouldn’t and don’t have the money to keep up with constant whole head bleaching.

Suzanne tried to convince me to go back to brown, but I wanted to end my wild colours with a bang.

We went back to red. Dark red, with orange and yellow fauxhawk highlights.

I am the girl on fire. Fuck you, Katniss Everdeen.

I was feeling off that day, so I decided to make faces rather than smile, if anyone was wondering what in the holy hell I’m doing here.

So, of course, being red, the colours faded pretty quick, cold water and all. Rather than turn coppery like last time, they went straight blonde, for the yellow and orange, and faded, pale burgundy for the red. Sort of wine coloured in some spots, actually. It also grew out from the fauxhawk into a wavy, cowlicky pixie, as per the norm.

Believe it or not, we’re caught up on my hairventures! I’m still currently working on said faded red fauxhawk, and deciding what to do next. Be forewarned: it isn’t going to be as fun and bright, because I’m a poor writer. Boo.
